A New Forum for Exchanges across Many Fields Relating to Occupational Health and Medicine

The intent of launching a journal in this area is to integrate several aspects of occupational medicine and health. These include mechanistic, regulatory, epidemiological and public health perspectives of workplace issues. By putting such a range of viewpoints all under one roof, it is hoped to further cross talk between disciplines that would be otherwise not possible in other platforms such as forum. Occupational health is often the cornerstone of progress in public health and epidemiology as it is in the workplace that a well-defined relatively homogeneous population can be studied. Ensuring protection of worker’s health is a prime responsibility of civilized society. This critical area is relatively underserved and this new journal will allow for a significant degree of communication between disciplines from which valuable, sometimes serendipitous, findings can be expected. In order to allow for more rapid informal exchanges, there will also be a “Letters to the Editor” section. Here general questions can be raised and responded to, and comments can be made on full-length articles. In addition, important regulatory and legislative issues can be addressed and discussed in this section. This will ensure meeting the ambitious goal of the journal, which is to encompass the field in a truly comprehensive manner.
